Enjoy reading!

Nowadays, Chinese technology has increased rapidly. I think one thing you must know about China is shared economy, of which the important part is bike sharing. The popularity of shared bikes has been increasing considerably.

Bike sharing is so convenient. It solves the problem of the last kilometer and relieves traffic jams. For example, someone uses it to go to the subway station when they go to work. Also, it can help protect the environment. So, people take into account the advantage of bike sharing as a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, it is almost free of charge, you only need to pay for the deposit.

However, there are also some drawbacks. There are too many bikes on the street. Because of the random parking, they can occupy wherever they want. And some bikes are damaged by unknown reasons. So I believe the management needs to be improved. The future of the bike sharing’s development is also worthy of our hope.

RIght now, there are two big companies who provide shared bikes, Ofo and Mobike. The two companies are competing strongly.  If you want to use shared bikes, you should follow these steps. First, you need to download the company’s app and register. Then, you have to find the nearest bike and open the app. Third, you will scan the QR code and the bike will be unlocked.

In the Chinese market, Ofo and Mobike have shared more than 90% market share. At the same time, this bike sharing has also developed in many other foreign countries. Active user weeks permeability jumped 2440% in overseas markets. In the U.S., I have seen the Chinese shared bikes and it was a great surprise. In New York, the public bikes were called citi bikes. In the busiest cases per month, as much as 40,000 people can travel at the same time on these bikes. But citizens can’t borrow and return them everywhere they wish. In China, we have similar problems about public bicycle systems. At first, there were many problems. As a result, companies keep coming up with solutions to these problems.

All in all, thanks to shared bikes, for making our life more convenient, efficient and beautiful.

Thanks for such a well-written article about bike sharing in China. It is clear that you did your research, backing up your statements with relevant statistics. While there are still some kinks to be worked out with these systems (property damage, parking space), I definitely agree with you that this is an affordable, environmentally friendly, and health promoting means of transportation. Hopefully its popularity continues to grow!

I think bike sharing is a great way to cut back on pollution and environmental costs, and I hope the bike sharing model, once perfected, can be used in other countries as well!

I have rode on of these bikes before in China. The bikes are in good condition and are very convenient. Though these bikes do crowd up sidewalks when they are not being used. Nice article.

This is so interesting! I have actually seen these bikes before in China. It’s so interesting that you can just scan the QR code and the bike will be unlocked. The US should have something like this to make life more convenient.

Wow, I never knew that people could share bikes in China! I love this idea because it seems to be a cheap alternative to driving a car, and it is so convenient! I also learned that there are two opposing companies that both provide the opportunity to share bikes. Thanks for sharing!

Learning that there was bike sharing in China was amazing! Its such a great way to take care of the environment. I am in 6th grade in Ms.Chao’s Mandarin class, and we learned a little about China at the beginning of the year!

Great article! By using bikes, it protects the environment and it is easy to get a bike. I think that although there are some problems with this system, it will work out in the end. Great article!

What a great article. I think that bike sharing will be used a lot in the future. I know that they aren’t really offered in the suburbs, which makes sense because they wouldn’t make enough money to profit, but in the city it is smart because you have a virtually empty market, and a real need. It is the best time for something like this because most people are trying to “Go Green”, which can be done by riding a bike instead of driving a car.

What a great article Emma! And a great topic as well! I didn’t know that there was bike sharing in China as well. I know whenever I am in New York City, me and my family use citi bikes to get around instead of taking a taxi. Not only do we get great exercise, but we are helping t protect the environment as well. I am glad to see that China is also helping to protect the environment by using this same concept of bike sharing.
