Three of the Best Water Parks in China

Summer may be coming to a close very soon, but it’s not too late to jump into the pool one last time! Actually, jumping is a little too old school. Maybe consider something a tad more exhilarating!

Summertime is water park season! All across the United States, children and adults alike have been visiting the nation’s most famous water parks. Kalahari in Pocono Summit, PA, Camelback in Tannersville, PA, and Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, PA are just 3 of the hundreds of water parks where memories are being made this summer. But, while water parks are most popular in the U.S., they have began popping up all over the world. One place where water parks are being reinvented is China.

Shanghai Dino Beach

Dino Beach is located in Qibao, Shanghai. Not only is it a water park, but it’s also a gift for the eyes. It has a scenic artificial lake, river, and beach. It’s not only a water park, but also an amusement park just half an hour away from central Shanghai.

Beijing Watercube Waterpark

This water park is a remnant of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. It covers an area of about 20,000 square meters and houses numerous thrill-inducing water slides. It is built at the site in which the aquatics events were held for the 2008 Summer Olympics. It is the largest indoor water park in Asia and is located in the heart of Beijing.

Beijing Happy Magic Watercube

This water park is nothing short of “state-of-the-art”. It has the largest wave pool in the world which can hold thousands of people. Speed Sliding is perfect for those who seek the euphoria of speed, Tornado is for the people who don’t mind getting dizzy, and Dark Bowl keeps you blind until you splash down. Located in the same complex as the Beijing Watercube Waterpark, it is perfect for those seeking a cool, refreshing relief from the summer heat.

Sometimes you just need to chill by the pool. Sometimes you want to spice up your entrance. It doesn’t have to be summer for you to enjoy a water park! Have fun and slide into a water park near you!

This is a very cool article. I really love water parks and have only been to a few. I never knew that there are soo many famous water parks in the United States. I didn’t even know that they were well known in China! I have only been to a few water parks, and I am hoping to eventually go to more. The water parks in China look really fun!

  2. Tiffany Chen

I will definitely have to visit some of these water parks! It’s really amazing how water parks are starting to be built with themes and better design. It’s also nice how water parks are adding more rides instead of just the typical water slide. Those factors make the experience a lot more interesting. A couple weeks ago, I was on a cruise in Europe, and there were three water slides, but they didn’t seem nearly as exciting as the ones shown in these photos. Thank you for sharing!

In this hot weather, seeing these waterparks makes me what to visit them! I love how innovative designers have become when creating waterparks and based on this article, China has many great ones. In the Beijing Watercube Waterpark picture, it is amazing that so many people are in the pool at once! They also seem like they are enjoying their time. I love how China is able to offer so many diverse waterparks and each one has something unique about it. Thank you for sharing.

  4. Morgan Park

This article caught my attention. This is because I love water parks. I didn’t know that water parks were becoming popular in China. I learned that the Beijing Watercube Waterpark is built where the Beijing Olympics were held. I also learned that it is the largest water park in Asia.

  5. Dennis Chau

This is amazing especially in this hot weather. I really wish summer didn’t have to end so I can go check out these waterparks in China. But, I will for sure go some other time. Plus these parks are so much different form one another so theres a variety of parks to choose from. This will be one amazing experience and it looks like a lot of fun as well.

  6. Rona Cao

I love waterparks ever since I was little. They’re a great way to escape the summer heat. I still remember going to a waterpark that’s located in the suburbs of Beijing many times with my best friend and my family. After moving to the U.S., I still went to a lot of waterparks with my family, but I think the ones back in China are much more fun. The Beijing Watercube Waterpark looks so cool, I’d love to go if I had the chance!

Great article! I learned a lot about China’s water parks from this article. I like how you began discussing some of America’s water parks then made a connection to the water parks located in China. My favorite park that you mentioned was Beijing Watercube Waterpark. I find it amazing that after the Beijing Olympics, they repurposed the building instead of letting it stay vacant. I like how you mentioned that Beijing has the largest indoor water park in Asia and the largest wave pool in the world, even though they are in different water parks. It was great that you gave examples of different rides at Beijing Happy Magic Watercube.

  8. Joshua Cheuk

This is a very neat article. I wish I was at those waterparks in China during my summer. I really like the theme of each waterpark because each waterpark’s theme is very intriguing. Also, I like some of the designs for the water parks. Some of the designs look very futuristic and out-of-this-world. Next summer, I’ll make sure to check one of these places out.

  9. Juliann Lo

Great article! I learned a lot about China’s water parks from this article. I like how you began by mentioning water parks in America then discussed ones in China. I like how Beijing Watercube Waterpark is inside the building that hosted the aquatic events during the 2008 Summer Olympics. I can’t believe they were able to successfully repurpose the building instead of letting it remain empty. I can’t believe Beijing has the largest indoor water park in Asia and the largest wave pool in the world. I’d love to go to one of the water parks in China one day!

  10. Joshua Cheuk

This is a really neat article. I really like the themes of the water parks because they were very unique. These themes were different from American water parks. I loved the intricate designs of the interior of the waterpark. Some of the designs of the water parks look very futuristic and out-of-this-world. Next summer, I’ll make sure to check these places out.

This article really made me want to jump in a pool or visit a waterpark. With this hot weather right now, anything with water sounds good to me! The waterparks in China look amazing! I would really love to go on the huge slides in the Beijing Watercube Waterpark! They look amazing and bigger than any waterslide I’ve ever been on. I also really want to go on the Beijing Happy Magic Dark Bowl. I’ve been on completely dark waterslides before, and the thrill is that much greater. These waterparks look amazing, especially to someone like me, because I’m a thrill seeker. Thanks for sharing this article Nick! it was great!

  12. Kaydence He

I love water parks! I have went to a couple of water parks. However, these water parks seem so much more fun. Speed Sliding and Dark Bowl sound so interesting. I can’t believe the Beijing Happy Magic Watercube’s wave pool can contain thousands of people. I hope to go to more water parks in the future.

  13. Jason Li

These water parks are fabulous and are exciting in many ways. The pictures for the waterparks show so many things you can do in the water park. The wave pool seems like a popular choice.

  14. Andrew Lee

This was truly an informative and interesting article! I enjoyed reading all about the most exhilarating water parks in China. In the future I hope to visit at least one of these amazing water parks, particularly the Beijing Happy Water Cube. One part of the article that I liked were the visual aids, as they showed just how huge these waterparks really were. I was utterly dumbfounded when I read about the size of these parks, as I thought that something that big would collapse.. China is definitely the place I would go to cool of in the summer heat.

  15. Wesley Pergament

I wouldn’t even think of going to a water park if I were to visit China again, so thank you for sharing! When I was younger, I went to a few water parks, but just by looking at the pictures, it seems as though China has so much better water parks. I think the Watercube WaterPark looks the most fun with it’s giant slides in the back. It’s even more interesting to see that the location was recycled from the 2008 Olympics. If it wasn’t, I know sometimes Olympic spaces can go to waste which is really bad in many different regards.

  16. Audrey Chan

This article was very well written and gave me a lot of information. All these water parks look amazing! I have never been to China, but if I do I will make sure that I will be able to visit one of these parks. I have never been to a water park before so I think it would be fun if I could experience my first time at one of these parks. Just looking at the pictures make me excited to visit china for the sole purpose of going to the water parks.

  17. Michael Kim

Interesting article. I hope the summer does end soon, but I really enjoy water parks. The good thing is, you can really go to an indoor water park at any time of year. I would definitely like to go to one of these parks; they look very enjoyable.

  18. Herin Ahn

Before reading this article, I knew nothing about Chinese waterparks and their ranking. I thought these three waterparks were really cool and I should go there when I go to China! Although all of the waterparks are indoor, I think they are very huge and have a lot of things to do. These look even better than those in America!

  19. Justin Cui

Man, we really need these waterparks, especially after today! In all seriousness though, I think this is an article tailor-made for me merely because I love the water. Whenever I go to a waterpark, I just can’t wait to try the things they have in store for me! And now, this is getting me more excited! Maybe next summer I should try some of these rides… Thanks for giving me recommendations for some more waterpark fun!

  20. Michael Pecorara

Nicholas, great work, I never knew that Beijing and Shanghai’s water parks had so many slides and water features. The Shanghai Dino Beach water park, with all of its artificial lakes and beaches seems quite unique for a water park so close to a big city. However, I wonder how the artificial lakes and beaches of this park have effected the surrounding ecosystems. Also, I am shocked to hear that the Beijing aquatics center has been converted into two different water parks. I remember fondly watching the 2008 Olympics on television as it was one of the first experiences that exposed me to Chinese culture. To be honest, I am kind of sad that all of the experiences and memories that were made in that aquatics center have been painted over with frivolous water parks. That being said, your article on water parks made me so nostalgic, I don’t want summer to end! Good work.

  21. Jessica Chen

I didn’t know that water parks in China were had this many rides and attractions! I visited one in Fuzhou the last time I traveled to China and it didn’t have as many rides as the ones in the United States. Now that I know about these amazing water parks, I want to visit them all and see what it’s like!

  22. Ethan Zhu

These water parks in china look like so much fun! They’re exceptionally useful over the summer since it gets very hot and if you want to cool down you can go into the pool. These water parks in China look more fun than some water parks that are located in the United States. I didn’t know that they had water parks of this size and how complex it is. It would be fun to visit these parks and try out all of them.

  23. Brian Chu

I love water parks! I went to the Camelback waterpark with my family two years, and loved it! Its cool that China is adding new ideas to water parks, such as speed sliding. Hopefully the next time I’m in China I’ll visit one of these parks. I’ll be sure to remember this article for giving me an idea.

  24. Preethi Sridhar

I am a big fan of water parks! Every summer I always go to water parks with all my family friends. I remember last summer my family friends and I went to Splish Splash and we had a blast. I wish I can visit China just to get the thrill out of going to the water parks. Nice article, thanks for sharing!!

  25. Peter Ochalek

Now I really want to go to China so I can visit these. They put some of out water parks to shame. And it’s good to see that countries are making use of the facilities used to host the Olympics because those are expensive to make. And the last one is grander than most waterparks in America, and it’s indoors! Seeing this, I’m not really surprised that these are the biggest water parks in China.

  26. Derek Chu

Thank you for this amazing article Nicholas! It was super cool looking at these waterparks. This inspired me to go visit China again in the future. I really liked how you used such colorful pictures for the waterparks. I really enjoyed this article, and I hope you write more like this in the future.

  27. Hitomi Honda

Great article, Dylan! I learned about these three water parks. They all look so fun and exciting. Next time I go to China, I will definitely ask my parents if we can visit one of these! Thanks for sharing!

  28. Lucy Cao

    看到啦中国大城市的基础娱乐建筑,表示真的很想念水上乐园。好久都没有去玩啦,尤其是北京鸟巢旁边的水立方,十分想念

  29. Logan Chang

Nice Nick! Water parks are so much fun, especially in the hot summer heat we are experiencing right now. It is very interesting to learn that water parks have found there way into China in a market where they can definitely succeed. I have always enjoyed visiting water parks with my friends and family. If I ever get the chance to go to China, I will definitely try to visit one of these parks. The Beijing Waterhouse’s “speed sliding” sounds super fun!

  30. Angel Chang

nice job!

  31. Kevin Liu

  32. Flora qin

These water parks look so cool and it would be awesome to go in this type of weather. I’ve always loved water parks and I love going down the big slides. Hopefully I can go to one of these when I go back to China

  33. Josh Dong

Although I have never been to China, when I go in the future I now want to go to one of these places. The way this article described the water parks was very vivid and the pictures that went along with it were also very good. My favorite one is the “Beijing Happy Magic Watercube” because it looked like that waterpark had a lot of slides and options to choose from. Since I don’t go to water parks often, I bet this would be a great experience when I finally go to China! Thank you for writing this article!

  34. Mackenzie Setton

This article was really interesting to read! I love waterparks, so this article was particularly fascinating to me. In general, this piece was very well written and the information compelled me to keep reading. The pictures provided great a great visual aspect that most definitely enhanced the article. I also love how both indoor and outdoor parks were described in this story. The Beijing Water Cube Waterpark seemed the most intriguing to me because I found it cool how it was built at the site of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Great article!

  35. Helen Zhang

Wow, this article was so fun to read! As a kid, I always love water parks. Every summer, my family would go to at least one water park to play. Out of these three water parks, I really want to go to the third one. If I can go to China next summer, I would definitely go to one of these places.

  36. Kelly Mui

Now I definitely want to go to China and visit those waterparks! I haven’t been to many of them before but with the new renovations I think it would be a really fun trip. A good time to go would probably be right about now, to escape this heat wave. I didn’t know that the 2008 Beijing Olympics were held in that area. Hopefully one day I can go and see all the amazing attractions that these parks have.

  37. Leanne Lu

Great article! I’ve been to a few waterparks before, but never one in China. It’s fascinating how the Shanghai Dino Beach has an articifial lake, river, and beach, and is also an amusement park. I never knew that the site of the 2008 Beijing Olympics was turned into a water park. It’s also impressive how the Beijing Happy Magic Watercube has the largest wave pool in the world, and that it can fit thousands of people.

  38. Kelly Wang

I’ll be honest; I’m really not a fan of water and I hate swimming. At the same time though, I can’t deny the fun of waterparks either. I think I can appreciate the scenery of the Shanghai Dino Beach. And wow, I’ve never heard of indoor water parks before! Beijing’s Watercube Waterpark definitely interests me.

  39. brandon lorber

This article is very interesting towards water parks. I like going to water parks and some of these waterparks I would like to go to. The Beijing water cube waterpark really seems like a cool place to go to. The Shanghai Dino Beach seems cool because its not only a water park but an amusement park with an artificial river lake and beach. I find this article interesting because of the different descriptions of all the different water parks.

  40. Lisa Jiang

This article really caught my attention. I love going to water parks. It is the best thing to do during summer. Thank you for the information on this. Next time I go to China I will definitely go to these water parks. Thanks again for the information.

  41. Eric Ma

What an interesting article. I never knew that there were so many water parks that are in China. Not only that but I’m a huge fan of water parks and water slides. The next time that I go to China I will try to find one of the water parks and to see how good they really are.

  42. Michael Xie

After reading this article it got me really interested in visiting these water parks. I really like the concept of waterparks but I never knew there were this many water parks in China. The idea of an artificial lake and river seems like a very good and creative idea. Unlike the other parks, you can swim in these attractions without having to worry about your surrounding. I really look forward to my next visit to China to personally see these places.

  43. Joanne Li

Wow! I’d never known that there were so many amazing water parks in China! The Beijing Watercube Waterpark sounds like a fun place to go! It’s really cool how a waterpark that huge is able to be located right in Beijing and that it was used for the 2008 Olympics. I’ll definitely try to look for one the next time I visit China!

  44. Pritesh Patel

This article really grabbed my attention. I never knew that water parks in China looked so cool. They look just as cool, if not better, as water parks in the U.S. Personally I love going to water parks, so seeing all these water parks makes me sad that school started. If I ever get the chance I would love to go to these water parks.

  45. Tyler Lin

This was a very fun, interesting article! Just so you know I love waterparks and think they are very fun things to go on. I learned about the cool and awesome water parks in China. Just from the pictures, I would like to go to one of them right away! They look a lot more artistic and beautiful than the ones here in America, this makes them a lot more eye-catching than the ones here. I really thought of this as very informational and actually enjoyed reading this!

  46. Tyler Lin

  47. Jennifer Lin

The water parks in this article all look so fun! I wish I was at one of them instead of in New York when I have to go to school. I think it’s so cool that you can have two totally different countries, the United States and China, but they both still are similar in methods of entertainment, like water parks. I hope that I can visit one day. Next time, I visit China maybe I will!

  48. Patrick Schnell

Great article! I learned a lot about China’s water parks from this article. The parks look very cool and super enjoyable! Hopefully I can visit China soon and see for myself.

  49. Daniel Yeh

I enjoyed reading about the water parks. It really was interesting because its like 80-84 degrees our. I also didn’t know that China had water parks with the ability to hold thousands What really interests me are in the pictures we are seeing water parks which are completely different from normal ones in the U.S. ones. Like one of them is having a preference while in the park which I’ve never seen before.

  50. Claire Ma

I found this article very interesting because I didn’t know China would have these kind of attractions! I think it’s cool how they design their water parks to mimic underwater themes! I also think its cool that the Beijing Watercube Water park is a remnant of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I have been to water parks in the U.S, but I haven’t been to any in China. I hope I can go to one if I visit China because they sure are being “reinvented!”

  51. Nephreti Britt

I really loved your article and these water-parks look so cool. As sad as it may sound I’ve never actually been to a water park so I would definitely love to come to water parks like these. The Beijing Watercube water park looks especially beautiful and fun with all the cool slides. One of the slides resembles that of a roller-coaster because of the way it loops around. If I ever go to China i will be sure to spend a day at one of these water parks! 🙂

  53. Tina Qin

    平时非常的喜欢水上乐园,但又非常讨厌被晒黑。所以北京水立方是个非常好的去处。我觉得如果有人要去北京的话一定要去鸟巢水立方看看,是个非常好的去处。

  54. Tina Qin

    平时非常的喜欢水上乐园,北京水立方是个非常好的去处。我觉得如果有人要去北京的话一定要去鸟巢水立方看看,水立方是封闭式的所以不想被晒黑的朋友们可以去看看!

  55. Richard Ren

Wow, all of these waterparks look absolutely amazing! They are large, modern, and seem fun to play and swim in! These waterparks show how China is being a wealthy country with a growing middle class and amazing attractions. They seem to be far more modern and beautiful than the waterparks we have here in the United States. Just looking at the Beijing Watercube Waterpark’s amazing slides, concert area, pool, and lighting makes me amazed at what people are able to achieve when they put their mind to it.
