Hosting An Exchange Student from Xi’an, China!

A few months ago, I had the privilege of hosting a student from Xi’an Middle School in China. I learned so much through this experience, enhanced my Chinese speaking skills, and further discovered the differences between the two cultures. At first, I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to communicate with my exchange sister. Nevertheless, when we finally met, I found out that she was very proficient in English and I knew more Chinese than I thought I did.

Through this experience, I also made a new friend. My exchange student, Maria, was very polite and excited to stay at my house. We did so many fun things together and it was exciting to see her experience certain foods, places, and activities for the first time. We went bowling, saw a Broadway show, and walked around New York City. I hope that one day I will be able to visit her in China and learn more about the Chinese culture!

It’s really cool to hear about your time with an exchange student. You must have had a blast with her. During the experience you must have learned a lot of Chinese.
