Tiger – Emily Shi

Tigers are known to be one of the most powerful beasts of China. In fact, the tiger is the king of all animals. They are often depicted in Chinese culture with the character for “king” on its head: 王. Tigers are known for warding off negativity/evil and protecting the people. The White Tiger, in particular, has the most power because it is believed that tigers turned white after living for a certain amount of centuries.

This was pretty informational! I knew some things about tigers but this shows some ways the tiger is depicted in Chinese culture! I didn’t know they were considered one of the strongest animals in China. The part that tigers were known for warding off negativity was new information to me! Another thing I did not know was that the white tiger was the most powerful. I always thought it was the lion that was considered the king of all animals but I didn’t know that the tiger was actually considered the king of the animals. This was a fun article to read!

I enjoyed reading this. I think the way characters devolved and the way they were affected by culture is intending. I never realized that tigers were though of as he kings in China. But it make sense that the top predator would be crowned king. With that said I think that the character is a bit of a stretch.
