Lets start this blog off with a question: What is your favorite gift you have ever received?

To be more specific, this gift does not have to be a tangible gift; it could be an experience or even an inspiration.
Throughout the past two weeks in my Chinese class at Jericho High School, we have been composing essays for our annual National C.L.A.S.S Essay Competition. This year my essay was selected for submission—as well as several of my peers. Fortunately, our Chinese department at Jericho High School has pronounced outcomes in this competition. So, I am hoping to receive recognition for my work.
In my essay, I expressed that my favorite gift I have ever received was my very first trip to China. In the first paragraph, I introduced the individual who gave me this gift—my Chinese teacher, Mrs. Song. Mrs. Song has continually given me numerous opportunities to excel at the Chinese Language. Secondly, I discussed my arrival in China, where I had suddenly been immersed into a whole different language and culture. This moment sparked my avid realization for how passionate I am about Chinese Language and Culture. Moving on to the middle of my essay, I spoke in depth about my host peer, her home, and some of the activities we did together.

我收到的最好的礼物是我第一次在中国的旅行。我的中文老师，宋老师，知道我对中文有浓厚的兴趣，所以给了我这个机会。
当我到达中国，我睁开了双眼，感受到了不同的文化气息。在中国我学了不一样的服饰和文化，并深深地被这些事物所吸引。
当我第一次去到中国，我住在中国的寄宿家庭。我的寄宿家庭的小主人叫王安琪，王安琪在西安高中学习。她邀请我去和她一起上课。我按照她的课程表，从早上六点半开始，直到晚上九点才结束。我不太明白有些知识，但是这让我更迫切地想学好中文。课间的时候，安琪介绍我给她的同学们。我告诉了他们很多美国的文化和生活，他们也对美国的文化十分感兴趣。
放学后，王安琪的家人带我去吃了海底捞火锅。我发现中国的火锅很有趣，因为他们将火锅一分为二，一半很辣，一半很清淡。吃火锅的时候，有人在旁边表演换脸和耍面。我一边享受美食，一边欣赏表演，度过了十分难忘的夜晚。
经过这次旅行后，我不仅仅想要学好中文这门语言，更是对中国的文化感兴趣了。
