Dunk of China

What seems like a better way to spend a Saturday evening than to watch a basketball game with your friends and family; as you guys share stories and watch your favorite team battle against the odds, the game in a way becomes a part of the family. And, not to much surprise, China also has a large culture of basketball with notable household names such as Yao Ming playing in the NBA. And with the regular NBA season coming to an end, many American basketball players are looking to play overseas. But, China is obsessed to basketball as we were, possibly moreso. With countless reality TV shows devoted to the game, you don’t need to wait until Saturday to watch your favorite game. In fact, recently retired superstar, Dwyane Wade has been making chinese headlines as he has announced becoming a coach in the second season of a show called “Dunk of China”. The show amassing nearly 50 million views in its debut, it’s undoubtedly a cultural phenomena and definitely an interesting one coming up. The reality tv show brings together the drama of a reality tv show and the competitive nature of basketball together to make an interesting survival “variety” tv show. Hopefully, this next season we can expect to see many interesting things to come.
